Cybertruck bomber Matthew Livelsberger shot himself in the head shortly before the explosion at the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, police said Thursday.

Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill told reporters Thursday that Livelsberger, 37, was found in the vehicle with a “self-inflicted gunshot wound” to the head.

McMahill added that a pistol was found at the feet of Livelsberger, whose body was so badly burned that he was unrecognizable.

It was unclear what weapon Livelsberger allegedly used to take his own life, but police said they found a .50-caliber Desert Eagle semi-automatic handgun in the car, along with other semi-automatic weapons that were also charred.

Despite the damage to the body, police found Livelsberger’s military ID, passport, phone and smartwatch in the burned vehicle.

Police were also able to find two different tattoos on the charred remains that matched Livelsberger’s known body ink, with the FBI agreeing with the assessment that Green Beret was the suspect.

Officials are still looking for a motive. Spencer Evans, FBI special agent in charge, promised that the agency would follow up on any leads received about Livelsberger.

Evans added that the FBI is investigating the possibility that the attack was politically motivated, as it occurred at a hotel owned by President-elect Donald Trump and in a vehicle owned by Trump ally Elon Musk.

“It was not lost on us that it happened in front of the Trump Building and a Tesla vehicle was used,” Evans said.

So far, law enforcement does not believe Livelsberger helped in the explosion because surveillance cameras tracked him traveling from Colorado Springs to Las Vegas all alone.

Tesla charging stations called to Livelsberger as he traveled south and then west on the way to Vegas, passing at least eight other charging stations.

He was seen alone at the train stations and no one else ever got in or out of the Cybertruck, which Livelsberger himself rented through the Turo app, police said.

McMahill said Livelsberger does not appear to have a criminal record in Las Vegas, but noted that police are investigating a possible incident involving the suspect that occurred years ago.
