Vikings legend Randy Moss says he is a cancer survivor and is recovering from Whipple surgery

One of the greatest wide receivers of all time, Randy Moss, announced on Instagram that he is a cancer survivor. This came after the Hall of Famer took a break from being a football analyst due to a personal health challenge.

Since Sunday there has been a lot of speculation about the health of the Minnesota Vikings. Moss is grateful to everyone around him who helped him through his diagnosis.

“But I’m back. Your boy’s back, man,” Moss said.

Moss sat in a chair and leaned on a cane during an Instagram live stream on Friday. He says he was in the hospital for six days.

“So I actually had cancer. They found it in the bile duct right between the pancreas and the liver, and the cancer was just outside the bile duct,” Moss said.

Moss thanked his family, friends, fans and colleagues for their prayers. However, he thanked his doctors the most when he underwent surgery.

“I had a Whipple procedure. And I’m not going to go into detail about the Whipple procedure,” Moss said.

Dr. Mayo Clinic’s Nguyen Tran explains why someone would need a Whipple procedure.

“Typically, this type of procedure is more likely to be distal bile duct cancer and less likely to be liver cancer. “Typically, primary liver cancer occurs in the liver,” said Dr. Tran.

Tran doesn’t know Moss’ exact diagnosis. But she explains what bile duct cancer is.

“If the liver has not been touched or touched in any way, it is less likely to be liver cancer. “So in this case it could be bile duct cancer, a form of primary liver cancer or pancreatic cancer,” Tran said.

Moss didn’t say exactly what his cancer diagnosis was, only that he was able to get the treatment he needed. He adds that he will have to undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
