Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson faced off at the 2025 Golden Globes when Diesel took the stage to present “Wicked” with the award for cinematic achievement and box office achievement. Diesel paused at the beginning of his speech and shouted, “Hey, Dwayne.” The camera shows Johnson smiling awkwardly in the crowd as the audience in the room laughs at the two actors’ difficult history.

Johnson and Diesel had heated arguments during their time on the Fast and Furious films, but their feud officially ended in 2023 after Johnson shocked fans by appearing as Luke Hobbs in a mid-credits scene of Fast X “ occurred. Diesel invited Johnson to join Fast to act in a film together again.

The “Fast” feud between Diesel and Johnson originally went viral in August 2016 after Johnson called out a “Chicken shit” and “Candy Ass” co-star on Instagram. It was soon revealed that Johnson was referring to Diesel, who told Men’s Health later in 2021 that the “tough love” he gave The Rock to get a great performance out of him caused tension on set.

“It was difficult to embody the Hobbs character,” Diesel said at the time. “My approach at the time was to help with great love to get the performance to where it needed to be. As a producer, we say, ‘Okay, we’re going to take Dwayne Johnson, who’s associated with wrestling, and we’re going to force this film world, the audience, to look at his character as someone they don’t know.'”

Diesel stressed that he had to intervene to get the Hobbs performance that The Rock wanted, adding: “Hobbs hits you like a bull’s eye.” That’s what I’m proud of, that aesthetic. That took a lot of work. We had to get there, and at times I was able to show a lot of love during that time. Not Felliniesque, but I would do whatever I had to do to get gigs in anything I produced.”

The duo’s “Fast & Furious” co-star John Cena appeared on the “Armchair Expert” podcast last year and was asked by host Dax Shepard about the rumors of Johnson and Diesel’s on-set fight. The host said: “That was a difficult pairing.”

“There are certainly rumors about it. I can’t deny that,” Cena said. “You have two very motivated alpha people. You get two, there can only be one.”
