Clayton has averaged 18.3 points per game through the first 14 contests of the season.

Florida Guardsman Walter Clayton Jr. has secured a spot on the John R. Wooden Award Men’s Midseason Top 25 Watch List, announced Tuesday by the Los Angeles Athletic Club.

Clayton is averaging 18.3 points per game and leads the eighth-ranked Gators with 43 3-pointers and 54 assists. He has five games with 25 or more points, including a 33-point performance in the SEC opener at Kentucky, tying his career high.

The Lake Wales native hit five 3-pointers in three straight games against Wichita State, Virginia and Arizona State, becoming only the second Gator ever to do so (Anthony Roberson). He earned MVP honors at the ESPN Events Invitational and led the Gators to the championship with 21 points against Wake Forest and 19 points in the championship game against Wichita State.

Clayton helped the Gators post an undefeated 13-0 non-conference record as Florida posted the second-best start in program history (17-0 in the 2005-06 season).

The Gators continue their battle on their home court Tuesday against No. 1 Tennessee in a sold-out top-10 showdown at 7 p.m. Single-game tickets are available for the final eight SEC home games in Florida.
