Warriors’ Steph Curry is opening up about his impending NBA retirement

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry remains one of the most recognizable figures in the NBA.

While Curry continues to perform at a high level on the basketball court, he is also 36 years old and will be completing his 16th season in the league next spring. Although the four-time NBA champion admitted he is much closer to the end of his career than the beginning, Curry said he can enjoy living in the moment.

“More than I probably have before,” he said during a conversation with ESPN when discussing his NBA future. “I think, you know, it’s okay to accept and acknowledge that the end is near, no matter what point. But only because it allows you to enjoy what is happening. But I think the more you talk about it, the more you realize it, it just adds to the sense of urgency of the moment.”

“It’s about recognizing, okay, me and (Warriors teammate) Draymond (Green) are in our prime. We’re, you know, in a situation where you have to look at the game a little bit differently.” But if you don’t win, the answer is, “How do we make this happen for me?” I only have a certain number of years left , and I really want to win. Yeah, that’s a funny term because that’s what people say, and what’s the actual answer? to find out,” he said.

The Warriors failed to qualify for the playoffs last season after being defeated in the NBA Play-In Tournament. Curry and his teammates want to avoid a repeat of that this season, and the February trade deadline could prove crucial to their hopes for the 2024-25 season.

The Christmas Day game between the Warriors and Lakers is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. ET.
