Washington Commanders safety Jeremy Reaves proposes to his girlfriend after the team makes the playoffs

Jeremy Reaves has just been scoring big goals on and off the field.

The Washington Commanders safety proposed to his girlfriend Mikaela Worley on the sidelines Sunday after helping his team secure its first NFL playoff berth since 2020.

The Commanders defeated the Atlanta Falcons with a dramatic 30-24 overtime victory at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.

The postgame proposal was captured in a video shared on the NFL’s official Instagram page. In it, Reaves gets down on one knee on the sideline, still in his gameday uniform, as the crowd cheers. After Worley says “yes,” the two share a sweet kiss and hug as Reaves lifts his now-fiancée off the ground.

“Proposal after the clinch! A moment they will never forget 💍,” the post’s caption read.

Reaves also wrote about the special milestone at X: “Glad we got to share this moment with the best fans in the world! LUV.”

He also reflected on that moment in a postgame interview, according to the Associated Press.

“I hate losing, so there’s no way I could have done that in the right frame of mind after a loss,” Reaves said, adding, “That thing burned a hole in my pocket.”

He shared that he initially thought about filing last week, but finally decided to do so after informing Worley’s family on Friday.

“If we win this game, it will be fate,” he said. “She deserves it. I can’t say enough about her. When I was at my worst last year, she was there every day to pick me up. She showed up. This is my best friend. My best friend since high school.”

Reaves also praised Worley’s unwavering support during his recovery from ACL surgery in October 2023.

“You can tell a lot about someone when they go through the worst and how they deal with it,” he continued. “I went through the worst last year when I tore my cruciate ligament. I couldn’t do anything, couldn’t be my own man and she was the crutch there when I couldn’t do it myself.”
