Army football lost its chance to become a first-place program with its season-ending loss to Navy.

However, the No. 18 Black Knights (11-2) still have a chance at history in the Independence Bowl on Saturday against Louisiana Tech (5-7). With another win, Army will break the program record for most wins in a season. The Black Knights won 11 games in 2018 and are poised to surpass the program record in Shreveport, Louisiana.

On the other side is Louisiana Tech, which received a nod to the bowl game despite a 5-7 record after Marshall informed officials in the transfer portal of his intention to withdraw due to a mass exodus of players. The Bulldogs are playing in their first bowl game since the 2019 Independence Bowl, when they defeated Miami 14-0.
