But he has the quality that matters most: He is a 100% Trump loyalist, committed to going after Trump’s real and perceived enemies in the political and media world. We are about to enter a world where the rule of law is being turned on its head – where everything is being transformed into its bizarre world version. It is a world that the conservative movement has been building for 50 years. Trump had to dare to say things that no other Republican president would say – namely, that the entire legal apparatus of the US government is illegitimate and corrupt. But Trump said these things and opened the floodgates. For the next four years, assuming Patel’s confirmation and that of Pam Bondi as Attorney General, we will live in a justice system in which the following black-is-white assumptions apply:
