“We have to come with our A game.”

“We have to come with our A game.”

To avoid using timeouts on potentially winning rides: “Yeah, I mean that’s because of Coach Raheem (Morris). You know, he always takes time off when he feels fit. And, you know, he trusted us to follow through on the plays and, you know, make the next play. You know, we all trust Coach’s judgment on this. So we’ll lean on that.”

On what he saw on the game-winning touchdown pass to Kyle Pitts: “I mean, we saw two high safeties, you know, just run one play. You know, Kyle saw it too and we agreed. And that’s what happens when we agree and we all work at a high level and achieve great success. You know, we got the players to do it. We just have to be consistent and, you know, like I said, just find ways to win.”

On the 56-yard field goal attempt to win the game: “Yeah, I mean, man, it’s football, man. You’re going to have good plays, you’re going to have bad plays. You know, we weren’t in a good enough position, you know, but we have confidence in Riley (Patterson), and you know, he didn’t make it, you know, but at the end of the day we always have to still play football, you know, there’s still football left, there’s still time left in overtime and we have to play. And you know, there are of course a lot of things that lead up to that point to get us into a better situation that we wish we could create. But at the end of the day we were able to look back on the film and see what we could have done better. So if this opportunity presents itself again, we will be prepared for it.”

How he assessed himself overall this evening: “Man, you know, I feel like I need to be better with the ball. I have to be better with the ball. I dropped the ball twice today. This is different from me. I’ve never really done much in my career, you know, so I was just protecting the ball because if we don’t fall on it, those are game-winning plays, you know, and the game could have been very one-sided, you know, so Do I have to protect the ball like that, you know, you know, you know, when the first pick comes out, we have to come out strong. I feel like we need to start quickly, and this wasn’t a quick start, you know, either way we need to get out there and score points, but at the end of the day there’s a lot of things to evaluate, but I’ll come back to that. I have to go back to the drawing board and see what it is.”

If today he felt like he missed a few throws he should have made: “Yeah, I mean, sure, sure. I missed a few that I normally do. You know, it’s going to come with chemistry. After the game I was talking to Drake (London) and I said, ‘Man, I need to be able to give you all these opportunities.’ And he goes, ‘Bro, we’ve been playing for six quarters.’ You know, it was halftime at that point . He says, ‘We’ve only played six quarters together, bro.’ It’s coming.’ You know, we’re going to continue to grow with this connection, and you know, we will. So, you know, it’s hard. Some things, you know, I wish I had them back, but at the end of the day we have to keep moving forward and I have to get everything done and be ready for the next play.”
