Weather Channel live in Cincinnati during a winter storm when the driver loses control of the semi

The Weather Channel was live in Cincinnati Sunday afternoon covering Winter Storm Blair as a stark reminder of why officials have urged residents to stay off the streets. In the video later posted by The Weather Channel on “Here’s a big semi-truck coming around the bend. I haven’t seen one like this in a long time,” said meteorologist Chris Bruin, who was live on a hill just above the ramp. You could see the semi truck going around the curve very slowly through the curve. Finally, a moment later, the truck could be seen coming to a complete stop, moving sideways rather than forward. “Looks like he’s going to slip right here,” Bruin said. “Yes, he’s heading towards the concrete. That’s scary. Especially when you have so much weight in one load. And the cars behind him, it’s a difficult situation because you want to keep the road open. It’s hard to get around cars that fail or slide. “The camera increasingly shows the tractor-trailer approaching the protective concrete barrier on the ramp.” “If it could just get a little further, maybe we could do it,” Bruin said. “But he could crash into the barricade there on his side.” Instead, the driver crashes into it. “There he is. Looks like we’re stuck,” Bruin said a moment later, as the truck’s engine could be heard roaring loudly in the background in an effort to move forward and break free. Bruin then turns back to the camera and notices that some residential streets are even worse than the highways and that ice appears to be covering the overpass, preventing the truck from going uphill. At the end of the video, several cars could be seen pulling up behind the truck, which was blocking much of the ramp. Just as the video ended, the driver of one of the cars could be seen getting out and walking towards the semi-truck. It’s just one of several accidents reported in the Greater Cincinnati area on Sunday. WLWT’s interactive traffic flow map shows the latest closures and delays here.

“Here’s a big semi-truck coming around the bend. I haven’t seen one like this in a long time,” said meteorologist Chris Bruin, who was live on a hill just above the ramp.

You could see the semi truck driving very slowly around the curve. Finally, a moment later, the truck could be seen coming to a complete stop and instead of moving forward, it began moving sideways.

“Looks like he’s slipping here,” Bruin said. “Yeah, he’s heading towards the concrete. That’s scary. Especially when you have so much weight in one load. And the cars behind him, it’s a difficult situation because you want to keep the road open. It’s hard to get near cars that break down or slide.”

The camera increasingly shows how the semi-trailer truck approaches the protective concrete barrier on the ramp.

“If he could just get a little bit further, maybe we could do it,” Bruin said. “But he might run into the barricade along the way.”

Instead, the driver strikes.

“There he goes. Looks like we’re stuck,” Bruin said a moment later, as the truck’s engine could be heard roaring loudly in the background as it tried to move forward and get away.

Bruin then turns back to the camera and notices that some local roads are even worse than the highways and that the overpass appears to be covered in ice, preventing the truck from going uphill.
