Weather in Dallas: Christmas Eve forecast full of rain and storms

A storm system will move across North Texas and start your Christmas Eve off wet.

Forecast for Christmas Eve: rain and storms

Tuesday’s storms will quickly intensify in the morning with increasing rain and a few storms.

This means that some heavier rain is possible in the strongest storms.

In the afternoon, heavy rainfall will occur from the metroplex to the east and south as the cold front subsides.

In the worst case scenario there could be small hail and gusty winds, but there is also a risk of flooding.

Overall, the risk of severe weather is low.

Towards the end of the day there could be scattered drizzle and light rain in the east.

Christmas Day forecast: Mild, cloudy

We will wake up to relatively mild temperatures on Christmas morning. Temperatures are around 50°C, but humid, with high humidity and lots of clouds.

It may be difficult to break through this cloud cover as we get an inversion layer in the afternoon.

It will keep us reasonably cool in the 50s.

Forecast for Thursday: storms, possible hail

The next strong system will attack quickly on Thursday. A rapidly rotating bubble of cold air has strong buoyancy in front of it.

Storms with up to quarter-sized hail and sometimes gusty winds of more than 50 miles per hour will develop quickly in the morning to midday hours.

Due to the deep surface moisture from the previous storm, these storms are elevated.

This may not be the case to the south and east, so the worst storms could occur in East Texas or Southeast Texas.

Storms will ease in the afternoon.

7 day forecast

There will be another disturbance on Friday, but moisture will be limited for this one.

Temperatures are expected to return to the mid-60s with partly sunny skies and a slightly reduced chance of rain.

This weekend we will immerse ourselves in the Pacific air again. Even if a fast cold front moves in on Saturday, there is nothing really cold behind it, just a shift in the wind.

On Sunday and Monday we watched temperatures climb to over 70°!
