Week 17 game highlights and low points: Packers vs. Vikings

In the final game of the 2024 series between the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings, the Vikings prevailed after almost blowing a huge lead in the fourth quarter. Relive all the highlights and low points (of which there are many) below.

Not a great start for Josh Jacobs and the Packers

During the Packers’ first drive of the game, Josh Jacobs coughed up the football and the Vikings recovered. The Vikings have lost the ball in every single game this year, and the winning streak continues today against Green Bay. Not ideal, but the Packers still get into the game first with a short FG from Brandon McManus on their third drive of the game.

Maybe leaving the guys wide open actually doesn’t benefit the Packers

Jalen Nailor scores the first touchdown of the game when the Packers inexplicably leave him wide open in the end zone. That smug little dance!! Get it out of my face! The Vikings led 7-3 early in the second quarter.

Sam Darnold looks good and it makes me uncomfortable

Sam Darnold splitting the Packers wasn’t on my bingo card for 2024. I don’t like that, I don’t like it one bit! That drive ended with a short field goal and the Vikings led 10-3 as the 2-minute warning loomed.

I think this article is just a Vikings highlight reel for now

I’ll wait patiently for a big Packers game, it’s fine.

FINALLY A PACKERS SACK

Karl Brooks manages to get a big sack when the Packers need it most. After about 100 FG attempts by the Vikings following that play, the teams enter halftime with Minnesota leading 13-3. What a disgusting half of football.

Big football isn’t finished yet, folks

Sam Darnold and Jordan Addison make it 20-3 after a 3-0 loss. The Packers must answer or this game could be out of reach before the end of the third quarter.

BABE, wake up! The Packers did something

Carrington Valentine tackles Sam Darnold and almost gives the ball back to the Vikings. Ultimately, the Packers hold out and the offense returns to the field.

Josh Jacobs finds his way into the end zone and it’s a game again

The Packers offense quickly finds the end zone and suddenly they are only 10 points behind. It’s a game, people! Perhaps.

Dear reader, it actually wasn’t a game

Cam Akers wanted to share in the Vikings’ scoring success and the Packers let him straight into the end zone. It’s 27-10 and I have a stomach ache.

A sack on third down might be just the thing

The Vikings applied all the pressure on this drive and it ended with a huge sack on third down. The Packers punt, and the way things are going on offense, the window is closing quickly.

CLOSE BUT NOT CLOSED!

When Emanuel Wilson enters the end zone and the Packers successfully go up 2, it’s a 9-point game with 6:12 left. I’m suddenly on the edge of my seat.

THE PACKERS ARE WITHIN 2

The offense took advantage of a free play and it ended with a touchdown by Malik Heath. THIS IS A GAME!

Just kidding. Cam Akers won the game for the Vikings after a wide-open catch for a first down. Oh!
