Every time we prepare to report an update on Wendy Williams and her unfortunate dementia diagnosis earlier this year, there is hope that things will get better and perhaps even lead to a return to daytime television.

Unfortunately, this appears to be far from the case. According to an exclusive report by The US SunWilliams’ guardian Sabrina Morrissey and her legal team state that her early onset dementia has left, and we quote, “cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitating.”

The unfortunate update comes from court filings in the ongoing battle against Lifetime Network over their Where is Wendy Williams? The documentary was released back in February this year. More on the shocking report below, via The US Sun:

“The filing continues: ‘In January 2022, Wells Fargo took the highly unusual step of commencing conservatorship proceedings in New York Supreme Court on its own initiative after becoming aware of a series of troubling events regarding (Wendy’s) well-being and finances had become.’ York, New York County (the “Guardianship Proceedings”) to request the court appointment of an independent guardian for (Wendy’s) financial matters.”

In the document, the guardian’s legal team asks the court to redact certain parts of the case about Wendy’s “health, family relationships and finances” to protect her privacy.

“We respectfully request that the Court grant Plaintiff’s request for limited redactions to protect non-public information from the conservatorship proceedings that has been sealed by the court overseeing these proceedings,” the filing continued.”

Morrissey and his team originally tried to prevent the initial release of Where is Wendy Williams? However, an appeals judge denied the request, saying it was “an impermissible prior restriction on speech that violates the institution’s First Amendment.” The lawsuit was first filed on February 20, but Morrissey failed to serve the original lawsuit. She then filed an amended complaint just a few months ago on September 16, which was transferred from the New York Supreme Court to federal court in October. The defendants are currently filing a countersuit against Wendy’s guardian.

As always, we will continue to pray for a speedy recovery, even if there is a restart The Wendy Williams Show is not included in the plan. We just want to see an influential black woman from our culture heal.
