Although Wendy Williams After staying relatively quiet and out of the headlines for the past few months, the recent update on her health has put her back in the spotlight… albeit in a rather sad capacity.

In a new statement from her official court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, obtained by PEOPLE, She claims that the pop culture icon has become “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled and incapacitated” due to her dementia.

The documents are part of a legal dispute between Morrissey and the A&E network over the controversial docuseries.Where is Wendy Williams??” from earlier this year, according to PEOPLE. In the series, Williams showed signs of some cognitive impairment and was apparently filmed without Morrissey’s consent.

“This case arises from the brutally calculated, deliberate actions of powerful and cowardly opportunistic media companies working with a producer to knowingly exploit (Williams),” the documents read in part, according to PEOPLE.

We I already told you that the former talk show host of the same name was diagnosed primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia back in 2023. This news came two years after she was previously diagnosed with Graves’ disease and lymphedema.

Aphasia is a condition that affects language and communication skills, and frontotemporal dementia is a progressive condition that affects behavior and cognitive function.

Doctors have determined that the cause of developing dementia at her age could be due to a variety of complex causes such as alcoholism, drug addiction and depression (all similar issues for which Williams has sought help before).

All of this has had a sad and significant impact on Williams’ life and livelihood, but even in February, Williams was still sane enough “to do a lot of things for herself,” as her medical team told PEOPLE at the time.
