AND I WISH WE CAN GIVE PEOPLE A WEATHER GIFT FOR CHRISTMAS THAN THIS WET AND RAINY WEATHER. You know, I was a little bummed when I came in really early this morning because I was kind of hoping that it would get a little drier instead of wetter, which obviously happened, because this afternoon we were already tracking the rain very early MORNING. NOW SOME OF THEM ARE GETTING A BIT DRYER, BUT LET’S GO FORWARD AND USE THE STORAGE WE HAVE WITH WDSU. FIRST WARNING RADAR, WE MAY GO BACK IN TIME. I’m actually going to go back six hours and show you how the rain played out this morning. THIBODAUX HOUMA. Boy, it was raining hard before about 8:00 this morning. The rain is now starting to shift further east. So the places that got the heaviest rain are Thibodaux. It looks like things are getting drier for you at the moment. Let’s zoom in. USE OUR ROAD MAPPING. There will still be some wet weather over the next few hours. FOR PARTS OF THE NORTH COAST. These cells look like they are moving north-northeast at about 20 to 25 miles per hour. It’s raining quite heavily HERE, right in the middle of our viewing area. OUR TRANSMITTER LOCATION IS IN CHALMETTE. WHERE WDSU RADAR IS LOCATED. This gives us great insight into what’s going on to the south of us. Very heavy rain appears to be moving into parts of JEFFERSON Parish and then moving further south. STILL HEAVY RAIN COMES HERE. NOW WE HAVE SEEN A LOT OF THUNDER AND LIGHTNING IN THE LAST HOUR OR SO. It looks like the thunder and lightning will decrease a bit from here. We are most concerned about the rain as it could cause localized flooding. I think there are a few circumstances. OUR CURRENT TEMPERATURE IN BOGALUSA 63, 60 IN HAMMOND, 63 IN SLIDELL. I don’t think it will get much warmer as it is very cloudy at the moment. THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS AT LOUIS ARMSTRONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 61 DEGREES. OUR TEMPERATURE 61. THE DEW POINT HUMIDITY AT 100%. Apparently we have rain winds blowing from the west at about 12 miles per hour. I think there will be a little fog tomorrow morning. I don’t think it will be too dense, but you’ll have to deal with the fog first thing in the morning. Be sure to check out WDSU from 430am. We check the visibility for you. This is a sort of mid to upper level trough that helps produce the rain. We expect a drying trend this afternoon. Let’s take you until about the afternoon. A FEW STILL showers are in the offing, although it will be drier further west at around 3:330, 4:00 p.m. RIGHT FOR DINNER. There are still a few clouds and a few showers overnight. THE CLOUDS CAN ONLY BREAK UP A LITTLE. Here we are at 9:00 am. This is where most of the rain is likely to fall. First thing tomorrow morning there will be a bit of mist, possibly a bit, which will dissipate fairly quickly. TOMORROW AFTERNOON HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND THE MID 70°. A mostly dry day. 20% chance of showers tomorrow, but then comes the chance of rain factoring back into the forecast for us on Friday. FIVE,. 4321. Happy New Year. Looks like our forecast for New Year’s Eve calls for dry and pleasant weather. We may get a cold front just after midnight on New Year’s Eve, but I’m expecting a temperature of 57 degrees now as we ring in the New Year. CLOUDY SKY THIS AFTERNOON. Scattered rain and thunderstorms. HIGH TEMPERATURES CAN REACH THE UPPER 60S AND LOTS OF STOCKS. THEN TONIGHT the showers will stop. WILL STILL BE WARM. CLOSE TO 60 DEGREES TO START THE DAY TOMORROW. CHANCE OF RAIN AT 20%. IT WILL BE FRESH TOMORROW AFTERNOON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, THEN UNTIL 3:04 AM SATURDAY NIGHT, THEN WE HAVE A VERY GOOD CHANCE OF RAIN. A trough of low pressure to the west will give us an unsettled Christmas Day, with showers becoming more frequent in the late morning and afternoon. We will also have a few thunderstorms, but severe weather is not expected. Our weather will continue to be somewhat unsettled on Thursday and Friday with a good chance of showers, but our best chance of rain will be Saturday night into very early Sunday thanks to a cold front moving through. The cold front brings us a slight cooling, but significantly drier air, which should continue into New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. New Year’s Eve appears to be dry and pleasant, with temperatures above 50 degrees ushering in the New Year.
