“What did I ever do with NBC?”

“What did I ever do with NBC?”

Flavor Flav didn’t have a particularly merry time at the Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Wednesday night (December 4) at Rockefeller Center. The legendary Public Enemy hype man was in attendance for the annual holiday tradition and said in a since-deleted tweet that he was inexplicably kicked out of the Backstreet Boys locker room by NBC security.

“I feel weird…I was invited to the Rockefeller Tree Lighting tonight and was escorted to my boys…THE BACKSTREET BOYS…and we were backstage in their dressing room…Security came up to me and said @nbc doesn’t want me “This area and I have to leave,” he wrote.

The 65-year-old rapper said things got even stranger after that. “At the same time, her social media wife came and asked to capture social content,” he wrote. “What have I ever done to NBC or anyone? I always just try to spread joy and love and I think I did that for NBC at the Olympics.”

That last comment was particularly salient considering how ubiquitous Flav was at this summer’s Paris Olympics, which were broadcast by NBC. The station gave the PE MC plenty of airtime, covered its cash and gift donation to the US women’s water polo team, and paid the rent for discus thrower Veronica Fraley US team; Flav said afterward that he wants to do everything he can to become the official torchbearer at the 2028 Games in LA.

As of press time, an NBC spokesperson had not yet returned billboardwhen asked for comment and it did not appear that the BSB had commented on the alleged incident.

Despite removing the original post, Flav later returned to that NBC was allegedly wrong to ask him to leave, adding that the BSB “should have spoken about the incident.” Flav assured them that “they stood up for me, they definitely did.” The New York native also later shared a video of himself having fun at the tree lighting, counting down to the big moment and writing : “Christmas in the city…nothing beats the Rockefeller tree lighting.”
