The New Year2025 is just around the corner. While banks, post offices and major stock exchanges will be closed on New Year’s Day, a federal holiday, you will find that many retailers are open, although hours may be limited.

What’s open on New Year’s Day?

GROCERIES, SHOPS, PHARMACIES

• Acme Markets — Most stores are open for limited hours on public holidays. Customers are advised to check their store page for any changes.
• Albertsons -Banner stores and pharmacies, including Safeway, Albertsons, Jewel-Osco, ACME, Randalls, Shaw’s, Vons and Tom Thumb, will be open with reduced hours on New Year’s Day. Selected pharmacies will be open with reduced opening hours on New Year’s Day. Customers are advised to check with their local store and pharmacy before visiting during the holidays.
• CVS Pharmacy — Locations will be open New Year’s Day, although some stores may have shorter hours, according to a spokesperson. The retailer encourages customers to call their local store in advance or check opening hours at cvs.com.
• Feed lion — All shops are open during regular opening hours.
• Giant food — All stores, gas stations and Giant Pick-up are open during regular hours. All pharmacies are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the exception of 24-hour pharmacies in Bethesda, Maryland and Catonsville, Maryland, which open at 6 a.m. and return to 24 hour service.

• Kroger — Although some store hours may vary, most Kroger locations will be open during their normal hours on New Year’s Day.

• Publix — All stores are open, but hours vary by location. Customers should inquire beforehand.

• Rite Aid (stores only) – On New Year’s Day, shops will be open while pharmacies will remain closed. Customers should check their local store opening times in advance.

• Sheetz — Stores are open 365 days a year and all services, including the made-to-order menu, are available 24 hours a day.

• Stop & Shop (shops, fuel only) — Shops and gas stations will be open during regular hours on New Year’s Day. The branch pharmacies are closed.

• Goal — Target locations will operate on a normal schedule beginning Jan. 1.

• Walmart — All stores are open during normal business hours.

• Whole Foods — All shops are open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m

RESTAURANTS, FAST FOOD CHAINS

• Chick-Fil-A — Restaurants will be open on New Year’s Day, although hours may be limited. To check the specific hours of operation of your local Chick-fil-A restaurant, consumers can select their local restaurant in the Chick-fil-A app or click the “Find a Restaurant” link on the website.
• Chilies — All Chili’s restaurants will be open on New Year’s Day.
• Chipotle Mexican grill — Restaurants are open during regular opening hours.
• Darden Restaurants (Olive Garden, others) — Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, Yard House, The Capital Grille, Seasons 52, Bahama Breeze and Eddie V’s restaurants are open regular hours.
• Dunkin’ — Stores will be open on New Year’s Day, but guests are encouraged to check the Dunkin’ mobile app for their local store hours before visiting.
• IHOP — Restaurants are open during the holidays, but hours may vary. Customers should check with their local IHOP.

• Outback Steakhouse — Restaurants will be open January 1, but hours may vary. Please check with your local restaurant in advance for opening hours.

• Starbucks — Branch hours vary by location, although locations may occasionally adjust their hours based on business and customer needs. The company recommends checking specific hours in advance using the Starbucks® app or store locator on the website.
