NFL Draft Order 2025: Why the Tennessee Titans are No. 1

The Titans finished the 2024 NFL season with a record of 3-14, tied for worst with the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants. The first deciding point for draft positioning is strength of schedule, with teams that played the weakest schedules receiving the best draft picks. Thanks in large part to the weakness of the AFC South, the Titans were able to beat the Giants and Browns in this tiebreaker and secure the No. 1 pick in April’s draft.

This is the first time the Titans have selected No. 1 in a draft since 2016.

Tennessee Titans Draft Picks: What other picks do the Titans have?

In addition to the No. 1 pick, the Titans have a second-round pick, two fourth-round picks, two fifth-round picks, a sixth-round pick and a seventh-round pick. The second-round pick will fall to No. 35, but the exact positioning of the remaining picks won’t be fully determined until the compensatory selections are announced.

Tennessee Titans trades: Why don’t the Titans have a third-round pick?

The Titans traded their third-round pick to the Kansas City Chiefs as part of a deal to acquire cornerback L’Jarius Sneed. They also traded their 2023 seventh-round pick to the New England Patriots for kicker Nick Folk.

Tennessee Titans trades: Why do the Titans have multiple fourth and fifth round picks?

The Titans received an additional fourth-round pick from the Seattle Seahawks in a midseason trade and gave away linebacker Ernest Jones IV. The Titans received an additional fifth-round pick from the Kansas City Chiefs in a deal for receiver DeAndre Hopkins. The Hopkins trade was a conditional fifth-round pick that could have turned into a fourth-round pick if Hopkins played enough snaps in a Chiefs uniform, but he did not meet the conditions.
