NBC’s Christmas special calendar is packed in 2024, including its very first A Motown Christmas particularly.

The big night is finally here. Make sure you tune in at 9/8c on NBC because that’s when the festivities begin! Don’t worry, reruns will be available on Peacock starting December 12th if you miss the premiere.

Judging by this tantalizing teaser video for the special, there’s a lot in store for viewers treat tonight. With numerous performances from all walks of life in the music world scheduled throughout the evening, hosts Halle Bailey and the legendary Smokey Robinson will take viewers on a vacation experience they will never forget.

The star-studded list of performers is impressive: Ashanti, Andra Day, BeBe Winans, Jamie Foxx, JoJo, October London, mgk, Pentatonix, Jordin Sparks and the cast of the Broadway show MJ The Musical. There will also be performances by Motown legends Gladys Knight, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas and The Temptations.

Bailey and Robinson were selected as hosts A Motown Christmas – and the legend was quick to remind fans of what’s to come.

“You can look forward to good music, fun and Christmas celebrations,” said co-host Smokey Robinson.

On the other hand, Bailey couldn’t contain her excitement – after all, the star will be appearing alongside one of her idols during the special!

“It’s a dream come true for me,” she confessed, before giddily pointing to the legend sitting next to her. A Motown Christmas will perfectly blend Motown’s past and future, and we can’t think of a more fitting host than a rising superstar like Bailey and an icon like Robinson!

The 24-year-old mother of one of the cutest one-year-olds ever called it an honor to host and perform alongside the music icon. And she teased that the show’s “gorgeous” opening number will be a performance fans definitely won’t want to miss.

“We have music from everything you can imagine,” Robinson revealed. “Any genre. Gospel, jazz, rock.”

The two hosts put everything into perspective when they talked about the unique connection between Motown music and the holiday season.

“The songs are the soundtrack of our lives – Motown music is Christmas to me,” Bailey explained.

“And me!” Robinson added.
