What to know from Colts second injury report of Week 15

The Indianapolis Colts were back on the practice field Thursday for their second practice of the week, preparing for a playoff-like game against Denver.

Below is the injury report from Day 2, followed by what you need to know from it:

– For the second day in a row, Ashton Dulin and Braden Smith did not practice. Dulin is still battling an ankle injury he suffered against Detroit that kept him out of the game against New England. Often not exercising for two days at the beginning of the week is not a good sign for Sunday. Smith is out for personal reasons and Shane Steichen said Wednesday that it was unlikely he would play Sunday.

– The only change in the injury report was that Josh Downs was no longer limited on Wednesday but was fully active on Thursday. We’ll see what Friday brings, but this is certainly a step in the right direction, and against a very good Denver defense, the return of Downs would be a big boost to the Colts’ passing game.

– Ryan Kelly was designated for return from injured reserve and was a limited participant in the first two days of practice. It remains to be seen whether he will play on Sunday or whether he needs more time to ramp up. I assume he would fully participate in at least one training session if he were to play again after last month’s absence.

– Tanor Bortolini, DeForest Buckner, Jaylon Carlies and Michael Pittman were all in the field for the second day in a row – a good sign for Sunday. With Carlies still on IR, if he is to be available he will first need to be added back to the 53-man roster, meaning a corresponding cut will follow to make room.
