Is this the last “Yellowstone” episode?

While the final episode of Yellowstone Season 5 will air on Sunday, December 15, it is not immediately known whether the series will end with the episode as previously reported, especially given reports that Reilly and Wheeler have signed contracts for have completed a reprise of their characters in a new spin-off. Details about the spin-off are limited and it is also unknown which cast members could be part of the new series.

Paramount Network is also marketing the final episode of season five as a “season finale” instead of a “series finale,” causing confusion.

Cast members Hauser and Reilly had previously alluded to both scenarios (Season 6 and a spin-off), and director and longtime collaborator Christina Voros claimed in an interview with USA TODAY following the release of the first episode that she didn’t know if “Yellowstone “will end after the second half of season five, as originally reported.

“It shouldn’t have happened so quickly,” she had said. “But the fact that we were able to poetically return to the authentic vision of the show is really satisfying.”

Hauser, who refused to swear on the pinky, added: “We seriously don’t know. The truth is that there is nothing definitive or set right now. We want everyone to see these last six episodes as their finale. And then if there is a future and Taylor writes something inspiring for us, we both said, ‘We’re there.'”
