Houston will hold its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade on January 20th at 10 a.m. The parade begins at the corner of Smith and McKinney Streets, in front of Houston City Hall, 900 Smith St.

This year’s theme, “In a diverse society, we must promote acceptance, uphold human dignity and protect basic human rights,” is set by the Black Heritage Society Inc. and Houston Mayor John Whitmire, who extended an invitation to the 47th original parade for MLK Jr. Day.

The event offers exciting discussions, music, dance and various activities. It will be Grand Marshal Rev. Dr. Derek King, nephew of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., honored. Recognized for his contributions as a spiritual leader, former pastor and educator, Rev. King emphasizes the importance of acceptance in fostering an inclusive culture and progressive society.
