When will it snow in Boston? Storm drops 5 inches in Mass, NH – NBC Boston

From Tuesday evening to Wednesday it will remain cold and mostly dry. With wind chill, temperatures overnight will feel 5 to 10 degrees cooler than actual temperature, with lows in the upper 20s.

Highs will rise to the low 40s on Wednesday, with winds shifting from the southeast ahead of our next wind system, which arrives in the evening. This wind shift is important because it keeps temperatures milder along the coast as the chances of rain and snow increase.

From Wednesday night through Thursday morning, the Berkshires and Worcester Hills are prime for heavy snow accumulation. Coastal and lowland areas will see mostly rain, while east of Interstate 495 little or no snow accumulation is expected throughout most of the system.

But as cold air moves in Thursday afternoon, a few heavy snow squalls could bring light accumulations east of 495. The Merrimack Valley and Worcester have the potential for 1 to 3 inches, with up to 5 inches in higher terrain.

On the other side of this system, the coldest air of the season will be blowing with gusty winds of 40-50 mph, particularly over Cape Cod and the islands. Through Friday, lows will be in the teens and highs will be in the upper 20s to 30s.

There will be a gradual warming over the weekend and there is a chance of further showers from Monday.
