Where does Alabama football rank in the final CFP rankings? Full playoff round, matchups

One week after the final game of the 2024 regular season, Alabama football now knows what to expect in the postseason.

The Crimson Tide does not participate in the College Football Playoff.

According to the final CFP rankings released Sunday, Alabama was listed as the first team out of the top 12 playoff teams behind SMU.

The Crimson Tide was No. 11 and the Mustangs were No. 10.

Most predictions have Alabama facing Illinois in the Citrus Bowl on December 31st. The Crimson Tide’s bowl assignment will be announced later Sunday.

Here is the complete College Football Playoff finals released by the CFP committee on Sunday:

Note: Ranking is based on seeds

  • No. 12 Clemson at No. 5 Texas faces No. 4 Arizona State

  • No. 11 SMU at No. 6 Penn State faces No. 3 Boise State

  • No. 10 Indiana faces No. 7 Notre Dame at No. 2 Georgia

  • No. 9 Tennessee faces No. 8 Ohio State against No. 1 Oregon

How many teams are participating in the 2024 College Football Playoff?

At the end of the 2024 regular season, 12 teams will advance to the College Football Playoff.

The top four teams – the four highest-ranked conference champions – receive a first-round bye. The teams ranked 5th through 8th will host the teams ranked 9th through 12th in the first round and for a spot in the CFP quarterfinals.
