Where the Big Ten potentially sits in the playoff round

The biggest week of the first 12-team College Football Playoff has arrived.

But before we get to the conference championship games — including a matchup between No. 1 Oregon and No. 4 Penn State for the Big Ten championship — the penultimate rankings will be released Tuesday, which could decide a lot before the final 12-team round appears on Sunday.

Michigan shook up the CFP on Saturday with a surprise win over rival Ohio State in “The Game.” With the loss, the Buckeyes are no longer in the championship game, but still represent a virtual lock for the playoff field. The question now is who else will join them, Oregon and Penn State. Indiana has only lost one game and has a good chance of finishing in the bottom half of the group.
