To put it simply, the Warriors were smoked like barbecue ribs by the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday night.

In fact, Golden State’s 144-93 loss at FedExForum is considered one of the worst in the franchise’s eight-decade history.

The 51-point margin represents the Warriors’ fourth worst loss ever, both away and overall. And if Brandin Podziemski hadn’t made a last-second layup at the final buzzer, it would have been their second-worst loss.

Additionally, Thursday’s defeat marked the worst loss by any team in the 2024-25 NBA season.

However, if there is a bright side for Golden State, this wasn’t even the worst loss of 2024; The Boston Celtics’ 52-point victory in March secures that honor.

Aside from the 2021 loss to the Toronto Raptors – in which neither Steph Curry nor Draymond Green played – each of the other three losses on the list that season came to the eventual NBA champions. Maybe this is a good sign for the Grizzlies this year?

Back to Curry and Green: This was the first time the duo went without a field goal in a game in which both players participated.

In another career, Curry had never managed a single field goal in a game that he had recorded for at least 12 minutes as of Thursday night. The Warriors’ star guard finished the game with just two points (both from the free throw line) on 0 of 7 shooting from the field.

So yeah, not a great night for Golden State.
