One of the most famous games on the college football calendar takes place this weekend.

Six days after the college football final playoff round was announced, No. 18 Army will face Navy on Saturday in the annual game between the service academies. The standalone matchup will be the final regular season game of the 2024 college football season.

The 125th meeting of the historic rivals of all time will bring more intrigue than usual and go beyond the traditional pageantry of the game.

Army coach Jeff Monken and the Black Knights are a top-20 team that improved to 11-1 last week after defeating Tulane 35-14 and winning the American Athletic Conference in its first season in the league. In their second season under coach Brian Newberry, the Midshipmen also enter the game in a strong position, with an 8-3 record in a season that saw Navy rise to No. 24 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

For millions of fans across the country watching the match, there is at least one curiosity besides the question of who will win the game: Where will the match take place?

Where is the Army-Navy game?

The 2024 edition of the Army-Navy game will be played at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland – home of the NFL’s Washington Commanders.

It will be the first time the game will be played there since 2011, when Navy defeated Army 27-21 at what was then FedEx Field. Saturday’s meeting will mark only the second time the game has been played in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

The 125th all-time Army-Navy meeting will take place Saturday, Dec. 14, at the home of the NFL’s Washington Commanders in Landover, Maryland.

The game was most often played in Philadelphia, with 90 of the soon to be 125 encounters of all time taking place in the “City of Brotherly Love.” The location makes sense. The city is located approximately halfway between the Army campus at West Point, New York, and the Navy campus at Annapolis, Maryland.
