The Commanders needed every bit of this victory over Philadelphia. It was a stark reminder of all the good vibes this team generated early in the season when Jayden Daniels tipped us off that he is the next star quarterback in this league. It’s one thing to beat up the Titans and Saints, which is what the Commanders did before Sunday’s Eagles game. It’s another thing entirely when you beat the hottest team in the league, a team that has won nine straight. Washington had lost to Philadelphia earlier this season in the midst of a three-game losing streak. The Commanders had also lost much of their early season luster as the offense waned and Daniels struggled with a rib injury. Sunday’s win showed us that there is still a lot to fight for in this team. The Commanders trailed by 14 points at one point, committed five turnovers and still won. This has already been a rewarding season in Washington, as that team went second overall in last year’s draft when they selected Daniels. The Commanders probably won’t do much damage in the postseason – they’d likely face Detroit, Philadelphia or Minnesota on the road in the first round – but the future remains bright.
