HOUSTON – It’s just about time to celebrate New Year’s Eve and say goodbye to 2024. To prepare for a midnight toast and other end-of-year festivities, you may need to make a trip to the store or two – but it’s wise to expect limited business hours.

While some large chains are open normally on the last day of the year, many others close their stores earlier. Much of this depends on the location and policies of each company. If in doubt, call ahead or find out more detailed timetables in your area online.

Here’s an overview of New Year’s Eve opening hours for stores in the US this year.

The HEB branches will be open during regular opening hours on New Year’s Eve. This also includes curbside delivery and home delivery. Shops will be open during regular opening hours on New Year’s Day. Curbside and home delivery opens at 9:00 am. The pharmacy is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m

Walmart will be open regular hours on New Year’s Eve.

Sam’s Club is open until 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. The store will be closed on New Year’s Day.

Most Target stores close at 9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.

Costco warehouses are open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, but hours may vary by location. All locations will remain closed on New Year’s Day. You can view local opening times here.

Many CVS Pharmacy locations will operate normal hours on New Year’s Eve, but some locations outside of the 24-hour pharmacy may be closed or have reduced hours. Customers are encouraged to call ahead or check local hours online.
