Who will the Buffalo Bills face in the AFC playoffs?

The Buffalo Bills secured the AFC’s No. 2 seed in the playoffs on Sunday after defeating the New York Jets 40-14.

The win gives head coach Sean McDermott more flexibility heading into Week 18. McDermott and his coaching staff could decide to rest some of their starters, either fully or partially, for the final game of the regular season. The Bills travel to Foxborough, Massachusetts to play the New England Patriots.

Who could the Bills face in the first round?

While Buffalo will certainly encounter an animal in the wildcard, the specific species is still unknown. Buffalo will face either the Denver Broncos, Cincinnati Bengals or Miami Dolphins in the wild card round.

The Broncos are currently ahead. If Bo Nix and his teammates beat or tie the Kansas City Chiefs in the final week of the regular season, they’ll be in and heading to Buffalo.

If the Broncos lose to the Chiefs, that opens the door to the Miami Dolphins or Cincinnati Bengals.

The Miami Dolphins, currently playing against the Cleveland Browns, will be in the playoffs if they win their final two games and lose to the Broncos in Week 18.

The Bengals need the most help to make the playoffs. Not only does Cincy have to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers next week, but they also have to watch the Broncos lose in Week 18 and the Dolphins lose one of their last two games.
