What did Campbell think of quarterback Jared Goff’s performance after watching the tape?

Detroit’s veteran quarterback almost single-handedly kept the Lions in the game on Sunday, throwing for 494 yards and five touchdowns.

“It was as good as I imagined it would be in real time,” Campbell said. “It was really good. I thought our defense was solid, man. The guys up front did a good job protecting passes most of the day.”

“He continues to play at a really high level at the moment. He will give us the chance to win every game. He plays at a very high level. “I can’t say enough good things about Jared Goff right now.” He does it.”

Does the offense need more of the running game in the future?

The running game has been a strength for this top-ranked offense all year and has struggled to gain traction over the past two weeks. Detroit rushed for just 48 yards on 15 carries (an average of 3.2 yards) against the Bills on Sunday.

Detroit not only couldn’t get its own running game rolling on Sunday, but it also couldn’t stop the Bills’ running game (197 yards).

Boosting their running game is another way the offense can help their undermanned defense get ahead.

Campbell said it was frustrating to watch the running game on tape because it wasn’t on plan or just because a player made mistakes. On one play it’s the backside tackle, on another it’s the receiver, on another it’s the tight end.

“But I’m telling you, it’s all fixable,” Campbell said. “We will get it corrected and it will definitely help the defense. It will help us be more efficient offensively and it will help the defense because we can stay on the field and convert.”
