Who will the Eagles face in the playoffs after securing second place?

PHILADELPHIA – The Eagles know part of their playoff path after defeating the Dallas Cowboys 41-7 on Sunday.

That secured the NFC East for the Eagles (13-3) and were no worse than the No. 2 seed. A short time later, the Eagles’ chance at first place was dashed when the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Green Bay Packers.

That means the Eagles will be the No. 2 seed and open the playoffs against the No. 7 seed. That also means the Eagles have to play the opening round of the playoffs January 11-13. Only the number 1 seed gets a bye in the first round.

Who will the Eagles face in the first round?

The Washington Commanders secured the third and final wild card spot with their 30:24 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday evening.

The Commanders are tied for 6th place with the Green Bay Packers. But the Commanders have the tiebreaker over the Packers.

The Eagles would face Green Bay if Washington beats the Cowboys next weekend OR the Packers lose to the Bears. Otherwise, the Eagles would face the Commanders for the third time this season.

The Eagles close out the regular season this weekend against the Giants (3-13).

How did the Eagles do against the Packers?

The Eagles opened the season against Green Bay on September 6 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, winning 34-29 in their first game in South America. Saquon Barkley had 109 yards rushing in his Eagles debut, while Jalen Hurts recovered from two early turnovers to rush for 278 yards and 2 touchdowns.

There were seven lead changes in the game before the Eagles survived the Packers’ final drive.

How did the Eagles fare against the Commanders?

As NFC East rivals, the Eagles faced the Commanders twice. They beat Washington 26-18 on Nov. 14 when Barkley ran for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter and the Eagles overcame a 10-6 deficit early in the quarter. Barkley finished with 146 yards, but Jake Elliott missed two field goals and an extra point.
