Why Justin Herbert will experiment with a new brace for his injured ankle

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is no stranger to ankle injuries this season.

However, this time he will do so with a different kind of support around the injury.

Speaking to reporters before his team’s Week 16 game against the Denver Broncos, Herbert revealed that he will be wearing a different type of brace around his ankle than last time. He hopes it will provide him with more stability and overall better care for his injury.

“I’m currently experimenting with new braces,” Herbert said. “It’s one that attaches to the outside of the shoe. That’s something I tried to get a good feel for during training and go into the game with.”

Herbert has stressed that his new ankle injury is not the same as the one he suffered earlier this season, nor is it as serious.

Considering that Herbert’s limited mobility was a big part of the offense’s woes early in the season, both the team and the player have to hope that this new opportunity better supports him as they try to keep their playoff hopes alive receive.
