The Sacramento Kings haven’t had the season they expected, as their recent loss to the Detroit Pistons was exactly the year they’re having. The team is now on a five-game losing streak and there have been rumors that head coach Mike Brown is on the hot seat. Despite these rumors, it would be a surprise if he was fired, according to Brett Siegel of CluchPoints.

“First things first: It would be a huge surprise to many around the league if head coach Mike Brown were fired,” Siegel wrote. “Whether in the front office or with the players, Brown has earned the trust of everyone within the organization over the years. The Kings don’t have a coaching problem, but they do have a personnel problem because their talent doesn’t match who they are. This roster is set in stone, so the Kings have to hang in there with what they have because on paper, this team is good enough to compete in the playoffs.”

The Kings may have a complete roster, but it doesn’t seem to fit together the way they would like this season. By adding DeMar DeRozan in the offseason, the Kings were primed to be one of the top teams in the Western Conference, but things didn’t go their way.

They’ve been active on the trade market, but it seems like they should just try to work with what they have and hope they can have some fun at some point during the season.

Mike Brown makes the case for the Kings’ loss to the Pistons

The Sacramento Kings had a chance to break their four-game losing streak, but blew a late lead against the Detroit Pistons after Jaden Ivey hit a game-winning three-pointer and was fouled by De’Aaron Fox for the four-point play.

After the game, Mike Brown criticized the Suns and Fox for poor game execution.

“Jaden shouldn’t have even had the opportunity to shoot a three-pointer because … we told our guys if someone caught them behind them to the basket to foul them, and they dribbled for eight seconds and we didn’t foul them, so that’s it first thing,” Brown said.

“You should hug your man at the 3-point line,” Brown continued. “Everyone should do this, and why it closed down other than Fox, I’m not sure. I have to go back and watch the tape. But we certainly 100% told our guys, “Then you can’t give up a three-pointer, can’t give up a three-pointer, can’t give up a three-pointer, stay on the high side, stay on the high side.”

De’Aaron Fox was asked about the foul and gave a blunt answer on the matter.

“It doesn’t matter,” Fox said. “It won’t make anyone feel better.”
