“Why yes, I consider myself an icon”

Chappell Roan has had some truly wild looks throughout 2024, so it’s no surprise that even she had to take a moment, think about it, and classify it. “Why yes, I consider myself an icon,” she joked in her Instagram post with her personal rankings.

But: “It’s my OPINION!!!!” added the “Pink Pony Club” singer.

Chappell Roan has enjoyed a meteoric rise this summer. In addition to being named Billboard’s Top Artist of 2024, her daytime festival attendance broke records (nearly 80,000 people attended her performance at Lollapalooza). After her performance as Lady Liberty at the Gov Ball in New York City, she collapsed in front of fans at her show in Raleigh, North Carolina. She admitted that her “career is just moving really fast and it’s really hard to keep up.”

The singer has spoken openly about her mental health struggles in the past. Roan opened up about her journey with bipolar II disorder in a TikTok video back in May 2023. And she openly and honestly expressed her need to set boundaries as her growing fame led to her experiencing “too many non-consensual” encounters with fans.

Luckily, fans fully supported her. Check out how their performance at this year’s Austin City Limits made an impact:
