Will Florida State be without QB Thomas Castellanos for the third time?

Florida State football had a 2-10 record after the 2024 season. The Seminoles fan base knew something had to change. Head coach Mike Norvell even mentioned that changes are coming. Some thought that Norvell would not take the necessary steps. However, he fired a lot of assistant coaches and brought in some highly touted talent through the recruiting trail.

There’s still a long way to go before Florida State will be ready to face the Alabama Crimson Tide in an exhibition game at Doak Campbell Stadium. However, the Seminoles are on the right path to respectability.

However, the Seminoles’ offense has been terrible in 2023. I originally thought Mike Norvell was one of the best playcallers in all of college football. Unfortunately, that idea was quickly lost after the first three games of the season.

The quarterback situation involved redshirt freshman Brock Glenn and true freshman Luke Kromenhoek when veteran DJ Uiagalelei was sidelined with an injury.

When Glenn and Kromenhoek played, the results were mixed. None of them showed that they were the guaranteed starter for Alabama’s season opener.

Florida State will have former Boston College quarterback transfer Thomas Castellanos visiting this week. The Seminoles are certainly looking for options at the position. The dual-threat option recorded 1,366 passing yards with 18 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Castellanos was a former three-star prospect in the 2022 cycle who the Seminoles recruited as a running back. Unfortunately, the athlete went to UCF as a quarterback. He then moved to Boston College the following season, where he began to show signs of success.

However, in 2024, he faced head coach Bill O’Brien in his first year at Boston College. Florida State fans are nervous because Castellanos is 6-foot-10, he was benched and (allegedly) dropped from his team.

I don’t like Castellanos as a pickup. However, I would rather have Kaidon Salter as my quarterback.
