A winter storm moving across the Southeast is expected to bring light snow to Massachusetts this weekend, according to National Weather Service forecasters.

“A stronger storm will move well south of us on Saturday, leaving southern New England behind. Light snow showers are expected throughout the day,” the NWS Boston office said on its website Friday morning.

An NWS forecaster said Massachusetts will see a maximum of two inches of snowfall this weekend from the storm. Less than an inch of snow is expected in most parts of the state, including Worcester, Boston and the South Coast.

“It will snow pretty lightly,” said Caitlyn Mensch, an NWS meteorologist. “The majority of this will take place Saturday morning, but there could also be a few showers Saturday afternoon.”

Less than an inch of snow is expected Saturday in most of Massachusetts, including Worcester, Boston and along the South Coast, according to the National Weather Service.

“Right now we’re looking at a half-inch to about an inch range, and at most probably up to two inches across the northern portions of Northeast Massachusetts,” said Caitlyn Mensch, an NWS meteorologist.
