Will LeBron James play on Friday? Injury updates for Lakers superstar

After four full days off this week, the Los Angeles Lakers get back to work on Friday when they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves, a team that posted a 109-80 record earlier this month.

With a record of 13-11, every game is of great importance to them at the moment as they cannot afford to lose any more games than they should or can win.

They’ve been shorthanded lately, with LeBron James (foot soreness) and starting guard Austin Reaves (pelvic contusion) on the sidelines alongside backup center Jaxson Hayes, forward Jarred Vanderbilt and big man Christian Wood. James will miss his second straight game on Friday because of his foot ailment.

About ESPN:

“Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James will not play against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, according to the team,” Shams Charania and Dave McMenamin wrote.

“He did not accompany the team on its flight, sources told ESPN.”

James also wasn’t with the Lakers on Wednesday for what head coach JJ Redick called “personal reasons.”

The team hosts the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday before having another three full days off before their road game against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday, December 19th.

Los Angeles is currently in eighth place in the Western Conference, with the Timberwolves one spot behind with a record of 12-11.
