The trade speculation began when insider Adam Schefter pointed out that many teams could be calling the Pittsburgh Steelers about a possible HC Mike Tomlin trade. Fans should keep an eye on the Chicago Bears and their GM Ryan Poles as they search for a big-name head coach.

As exciting as it may be to predict Tomlin’s theoretical trade value, news of the head coach’s no-trade clause quickly dashed the hopes of those yearning for a change in the Steel City.

Obviously, the Steelers could still try to convince Tomlin to waive the clause if the target fits his preferences, but there’s no indication that Pittsburgh or Tomlin would entertain the idea.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith – a well-known Steelers fan – argued that a change of scenery could be best for both the organization and Tomlin, and weighed in on whether the Steelers head coach should consider a move to the Chicago Bears.

Once again, none of this could take shape unless Tomlin agreed to waive the no-trade clause in his contract. However, both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tomlin could benefit: the Steelers would likely receive significant draft capital in 2025 and beyond, and Tomlin would have the opportunity to find playoff success elsewhere.
