Winter Weather Advisory: Freezing rain, snow possible across the DMV on Christmas Eve morning

Winter weather advisory for most of the DC region

A fast-moving clipper system will bring the possibility of a brief period of rain, snow and freezing rain to the Washington, DC area Tuesday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for D.C. and surrounding areas in Maryland and Northern Virginia on Christmas Eve from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.

When will the clipper impact the DC area?

FOX 5’s Taylor Grenda says Monday will be cold with a slight breeze in the air. In the afternoon you can expect temperatures around 30°C. According to Grenda, the night hours should remain dry. The concern lies in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The clipper system is expected to impact the area during a brief period on Tuesday. However, the timing of the storm will likely impact the morning commute. Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, are likely to become slippery.
