Madison students reported hearing gunshots and screaming inside the building before police evacuated them.

TONIGHT CONTINUES WITH 12 NEWS KENDALL KEYS KENDALL, we understand the school has been evacuated, but families are still being reunited with their students this evening. That’s right, BLAKE. STUDENTS, TEACHERS, PARENTS ARE TRAUMATIZED TODAY. I have heard from young students who told me they heard gunshots at their school today. Well, this is where all these meetings took place. THIS MEDICAL CLINIC IS. Watch this video now. Small children go out hand in hand with their parents, sometimes the parents hold their little ones in their arms after being reunited and experience the unthinkable. Now we’ve heard from a family that just got back together less than 15 minutes ago. Our director tells us it would be a lockdown and I didn’t think much about it. BUT THEN I GOT REALLY SERIOUS. AND THEN IT WAS. I was super sad. AND BECAUSE THEY SAY IT’S NOT AN EXERCISE. Yeah, it kind of scared everyone and was just sad. AND I SEE YOU. You’re missing your coat. How was it and was it urgent? Did you have to leave? HOW? YES. It was basically exactly what the police told us. Okay, go to church. Get out everyone now! RUN, RUN! IT WAS CRAZY. And have you heard anything? Any spooky noises? Yes, I heard gunshots and screams and it was all really scary. What was it like for you to hear that? It was really scary. And I was scared. MY FRIENDS too. How are you now? I’m feeling better. OK. How long did it take for you all to get back together? Probably five, six hours. Those hours when you knew that your mother was obviously very worried about you. How was that? It was scary, but she knew I was okay because I was texting her on my watch. SO. YES. Thank God. YES. AND MOM, FINALLY COME TO YOUR CHILDREN AND BE ABLE TO HUG THEM. YES. I mean, there’s no better feeling than knowing your kids are safe. I really feel and my heart goes out to the families who are not so lucky right now because we know and love them. KENDALL, I’m just so touched by the interview you did there with that family. One can certainly hear the emotions of those students describing the fact that they heard gunshots and had to be evicted from the school there. I’m curious tonight since you’re at the reunification site: Are all the parents that we know of reunited with their children? BLAKE. It doesn’t look like that. AS WE LISTENED TO THIS SOUND, I SAW MORE FAMILIES WALKING OUT BEHIND ME. The Salvation Army truck is still there. THE POLICE ARE STILL CLOSING THE ROADS. And so these reunions are still happening now. A FEW HOURS AFTER THE SHOOTING AT SCHOOL TODAY. And you could just hear the emotion in that cutscene
