With slick roads and icy temperatures, snow is moving into southeastern Colorado

Skies will begin to turn cloudy just before rush hour begins early Monday morning. A few storms are possible before 9 a.m., but the big flurry of snow arrives just before lunchtime.

Roads along I-25 in Colorado Springs will only be wet during the midday hour, but by the afternoon roads and driveways will be muddy, especially in neighborhoods west of the interstate.

The snow will continue until about 4 p.m. and then continue south, where it will remain over the Colorado-New Mexico border for the remainder of the day. A winter weather advisory goes into effect at 11 a.m. Monday for Pueblo, Huerfano and Western Las Animas counties, where up to 6 inches of snow is expected near the Spanish Peaks and La Veta Pass.

Temperatures will be cold, in the mid 30s on both Monday and Tuesday. Milder temperatures will return to the 40s and 50s for the remainder of the week.

Dress the children warmly for the school day. When they come home in the afternoon it will be wintery
