“Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan is facing backlash for choosing supermodel Bella Hadid as his girlfriend

The latest episode of “Yellowstone,” the last before the season if not the series finale, has fans divided thanks to an appearance from series creator Taylor Sheridan.

Sheridan has appeared several times throughout the series and in the current season, playing Travis, a rider and trainer who has done business with the Duttons.

On Sunday night’s episode, Travis played an important role in the story, starting with a scene in which he played strip poker with several women. It was also revealed that model Bella Hadid was his character’s girlfriend.

Hadid and Beth, played by Kelly Reilly, later watch as Travis demonstrates his world-class horse skills, something Sheridan is known for in real life.

Beth questions the relationship between Travis and Hadid’s characters, noting that he is “misogynistic” and “condescending” and quite a bit older than her, but Hadid replies, “Have you ever seen him ride?”

Later, Travis and Beth participate in a one-on-one strip poker game. It’s about him coming to Montana and helping sell her remaining horses, cattle and equipment if she wins.

Beth loses and is about to undress when Travis stops her and says he would always come to the ranch and she storms out after berating him.

Some fans weren’t thrilled with the heavy focus on Sheridan’s character in the show’s penultimate episode.

“15 minutes of story and scenes were wasted watching Taylor Sheridan show off his skills, party and just do his thing on his own show,” one person wrote on X.

“I am definitely NOT watching #Yellowstone for Taylor Sheridan. The penultimate episode didn’t serve its purpose,” another added.

A third person said: “Strange it took Taylor Sheridan two years to write these final episodes where HE is the focus! We don’t care about Travis. Hopefully he put his ego aside for the very last episode… so viewers can actually see the Dutton family and not that whole horse show (poop emoji).”

Others were generally positive about Sheridan and its larger “Sheridan-verse” of shows.

MICHELLE PFEIFFER WILL WORK IN THE “YELLOWSTONE” SPINOFF “THE MADISON”: “FRIENDLY!”

“Taylor Sheridan is an absolute genius, television and the big screen need more like him, he really brings it as an actor too!” one person stated.

When someone asked “Yellowstone,” someone replied, “This guy is Taylor Sheridan, who is the creator, writer, director and mastermind of this brilliant TV series.”

Another joked: “Taylor Sheridan’s role as Bella Hadid as his girlfriend on ‘Yellowstone’ is hilarious by the way (the realest thing he’s ever done).”

Representatives for Sheridan did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Some blame Sheridan and Kevin Costner for their frustration with the final episodes of the season. They left the series after the first half of the season, Season 5A, after having scheduling issues with his own film project, Horizon.

“At some point they wanted to make a change,” Costner said of the “Yellowstone” filming process. “They wanted to do 5A and 5B…influenced ‘Horizon.'” I wanted to do my movie “Horizon” and leave that show, do my movie and then do B. A show I only did once a year, I now did twice.”

“Kevin Costner and Taylor Sheridan screwed up a great thing in their dealings with @Yellowstone. They are the Jimmy Johnson and Jerry Jones of Hollywood. Congratulations gentlemen,” one person wrote, referring to the feud between the former Dallas Cowboys coach and the team owner, respectively.

Another said the whole season was a “boring mess because Kevin Costner quit and Taylor had a rushed ending.” That’s one way to ruin an epic show.”

YELLOWSTONE STAR KEVIN COSTNER is in no rush to see the character’s exit

Costner’s character, family patriarch John Dutton, was killed off in the opening episode of Season 5B.

Sheridan’s character learned of Dutton’s death in last week’s episode and asked, “Oh, really?” What happened?”

“I don’t think I ever questioned the meta nature of it, just because it felt very organic,” executive producer Christina Voros, who directed this and three other episodes of season five, told The Hollywood Reporter .

She continued: “It was just a series of things that made sense. Jimmy (Jefferson White) now works for Travis and that’s where his action takes place (at the Four Sixes Ranch, where Travis learns of John Dutton’s death). And what really struck me about this scene was that this is the first scene where we can really see how (John’s death) plays out in the cumulative effect of grief and helplessness.

Originally, the current season was supposed to be the last of the series, which is why some fans were annoyed by the lack of focus on the core cast of characters.

However, recently there has been speculation about a spin-off or a sixth season, led by Reilly’s character Beth and her husband Rip, played by Cole Hauser.
