Younghoe Koo was placed on injured reserve

In 14 games, Koo made 25 of his 34 field goal attempts. That’s a 73.5% success rate, his lowest since he was traded to the Falcons in 2019. His season-ending success rate with Atlanta had never dipped below 86.5%.

This year has seen highlights and low points in his career for Koo, whose contract runs until 2027. In the Falcons’ Week 5 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he hit his personal best 58-yard field goal to force overtime. He also missed three field goal attempts in the Falcons’ Week 10 loss to the New Orleans Saints, the most he has missed in a single game in his career.

“He hits the ball well,” Falcons special teams coordinator Marquice Williams said Dec. 5. “I won’t – we won’t – make excuses about injuries or anything like that. If he’s out there, then it’s his job.”

Now it will be Patterson’s job.

As of 2021, Patterson has played in 41 games for four different teams – the Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets. He has made 59 of his 67 field goal attempts throughout his career, for a success rate of 88.1%. Patterson’s longest check-in point is 53 yards after a Week 17 2022 win with the Jaguars against the Houston Texans.

This season, Patterson appeared in two games for two different teams, but did not attempt a field goal. However, he scored at least one goal on all four of his point shots.

The Falcons (7-7) host the New York Giants (2-12) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET (FOX).
