YouTube TV is a popular live TV streaming service that many use as an alternative to cable TV. If you’re a fan of high-definition 4K content, this latest YouTube TV update will be music to your ears.

YouTube TV has added a prompt to notify users when the content they are watching is available in 4K resolution (via Cord Cutters News). If what you are watching is available in 4K, a notification will appear in the top right corner of your screen to help you easily navigate to the 4K stream. The update is now being rolled out.

This feature saves you from endlessly scrolling through the guide menu to find out if something is available in 4K. Please note that to watch 4K content on YouTube TV, you will need the 4K Plus add-on, which costs $10 per month in addition to your subscription.

In addition to 4K content, the 4K Plus add-on offers a few other benefits. The add-on allows you to simultaneously stream and download DVR recordings for offline viewing on your mobile device. However, a $10 per month fee will be added to your YouTube TV subscription, with a $10 price increase taking effect as early as this month.

In December last year, YouTube TV announced that it would increase the price of its monthly subscription fee from $73 per month to $83 per month. The change is already in effect for new members who sign up today, and if you are a current subscriber, it will take effect in your first billing cycle on or after January 13th. YouTube attributed the price increase to the “rising cost of content.”

If you enjoy watching content in 4K resolution, the 4K Plus add-on will probably be worth it if you don’t mind the cost. The notification prompt that YouTube TV is adding with this update will make it much easier to find your favorite shows and events in 4K, which is a good thing considering how much the service charges for it.
