Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz had another reason to celebrate his two-yard touchdown pass beyond the fact that it gave his team a 30-24 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

With the extension, Ertz had six touchdown receptions, triggering a $250,000 bonus in his one-year contract with Washington, according to Spotrac.

His overall performance (six catches for 72 yards and two TDs) activated two additional bonuses. He will receive a total of another $500,000 for throwing more than 60 balls (61) and 600 yards (610).

The extra time was what pushed Ertz over the top. He made three catches for 16 yards and scored the game-winning goal in regulation time.

The three-time Pro Bowler is experiencing something of a renaissance on the field. His receptions and yards are the most since 2021 and the six touchdowns are his second-highest total.

For Ertz to pocket a total of $750,000 in bonus money is a large sum considering his contract had just under $2 million guaranteed when he signed. His base salary for 2024 is $1.2 million.

The 34-year-old has the opportunity to further increase his account, although this will take some time. His next bonuses will take effect once he reaches 70 receptions, 700 yards and eight touchdowns, respectively. He’ll have a lot of work to do on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.
