Former Home Improvement star Zachery Ty Bryan has been arrested on domestic violence charges – his fourth arrest in 18 months and at least his third ever for a domestic incident.

The 43-year-old father of seven, who played eldest brother Brad Taylor on the 1990s sitcom, was taken into custody in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on Wednesday after local authorities discovered during a home visit he was involved in a physical altercation. Law enforcement sources told TMZ.

Online records show the actor was booked into the Horry County Jail Thursday afternoon on a charge of second-degree domestic violence. His mugshot shows him with cuts on his cheeks, chin and lips. He remained behind bars Friday afternoon with bail set at $10,000.

Bryan’s latest arrest follows a series of legal troubles in recent years. He was arrested for drunk driving twice last year, first in February in California and again in October in Oklahoma, Deadline reported at the time.

He was previously arrested for domestic violence in July 2023, according to TMZ. In October of that year, he was sentenced to a week in jail after pleading guilty to fourth-degree assault.

Three years earlier, Bryan was arrested in Oregon for allegedly assaulting his then-girlfriend Johnny Faye Cartwright. At that time, he was charged with strangulation, fourth-degree assault and interfering with news reporting. Bryan pleaded guilty to two domestic offenses and was sentenced to 36 months probation.

He and Cartwright, with whom he has three children, later became engaged. It is unknown if she was involved in the recent domestic violence incident.
