Zendaya and Tom Holland are the Spiderman couple made to last

“Spiderman” couple Zendaya and Tom Holland are stuck in a web of love and can’t seem to get out — and they don’t want to.

The British-American love story began when the co-stars first met on the set of 2017’s Spiderman: Homecoming – the couple took on the roles of Peter Parker and Michelle “MJ” Jones – and starred in the franchises After the “Endgame” connection, they were bitten by the love bug in real life.

Their relationship wouldn’t be officially announced until 2021, when they traveled around the world arm in arm during their press tour for Spiderman: No Way Home. For the first time publicly, the pair were inseparable as they conducted interviews together, answered questions about who was cooking each other’s dinner, and posted amorous selfies.

Unlike all the other “Spidey” couples who have briefly dated on and off set – like the original Peter and MJ, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, and Peter and Gwen, played by Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone – Holland and Zendaya being in it for the long haul. After nearly four years together, the co-stars and partners announced their engagement on Sunday during the Golden Globes by flashing a giant stone on Zendaya’s finger.

According to outlets like TMZ and People, a source close to the couple revealed that Holland proposed to Zendaya over the holidays. Just weeks later, Zendaya, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in Challengers, was spotted on the red carpet Sunday night in a custom orange Louis Vuitton dress, a Bulgari choker and a matching ring on her right hand .

However, eagle-eyed fans and red carpet reporters spotted another massive ring on her left ring finger. According to the Los Angeles Times, this particular ring was not mentioned in a press release from Bulgari, which highlighted the rest of the brand’s jewelry that Zendaya wore that evening.

On the carpet, a recently engaged LA Times reporter showed the “Challengers” star her own engagement ring and Zendaya played it cool. The shy actress reportedly smiled, showed off her shimmering diamond ring and shrugged when asked if she was engaged. People Magazine also noted that the actress has a small “T” tattoo for Tom on her ribcage, just barely sticking out of her dress.

Since the ring’s debut, Zendaya fans have been searching online for confirmation. One person pointed out that Jessica McCormack’s $200,000 five-carrot ring has been on Zendaya’s radar since its release in 2022. From the X post, it appears that the actress liked a photo of the ring almost three years ago.

Another person pointed out that Zendaya showed “Challengers” producer Amy Pascal her left hand during the Globes. While the camera blocked out Pascal’s reaction, Zendaya smiled as Pascal held her left hand.

Even streaming platform Max, which hosts Zendaya’s hit “Euphoria,” commented on the engagement before it was confirmed by sources close to the couple. Max’s social media account posted a clip of a viral scene from “Euphoria” with a photo of Zendaya’s ring with the caption, “I’ve never been happier.” In the video, Alexa Demie’s character Maddie Rue (Zendaya) asks, “Rue, When was that?” and she replies: “Right after New Year’s.”

“The moment Zendaya knew she was going to marry Tom Holland,” one fan joked in a social media post of the now-infamous video of Holland’s viral “Lip Sync Battle” performance against Zendaya, in which he was in a corset danced in the rain and sang to Rihanna’s song “Umbrella.”

This isn’t the first time Zendaya has been at the center of the engagement buzz, although this time it looks like the rumors have been proven true.

Last year, the 28-year-old posted a selfie with a ring on her finger on her Instagram story, but it was a false alarm for fans.

Zendaya immediately cleared up the confusion, saying, “I posted it because of my hat… So not the ring on my right finger, guys.” Seriously, do you think that’s the way I dropped the two would? Like, what?!”

Zendaya’s reps have yet to comment on the engagement, but a family source confirmed it to PEOPLE on Monday.

And as for other family plans, Holland hinted in a recent interview with Men’s Health that at some point in his life the 28-year-old would like to settle down and give up acting.

“When I have kids, you won’t see me in movies anymore,” Holland said, adding, “Golf and dad. And I’ll just disappear off the face of the earth.”

Holland and Zendaya will film the fourth Spiderman film sometime this year.
